Timely, equitable, and appropriate access to concussion care are essential components to ensuring the best possible outcomes for patients. Our research illustrates that there is inconsistency in the management of concussions through the province, and that access to specialized concussion care is variable. Navigating the complex concussion care system in Ontario is very difficult, and there is not enough guidance for patients and families.

We aim to promote recovery, minimize the long-term effects of concussion, and improve the system of concussion care. The gaps we have uncovered in access to care through the province have become the major focus of our projects. The Ontario Neurotrauma Foundation (ONF) and our partners work to further research these inconsistencies and develop systemic solutions to bridge the gaps found in appropriate access to concussion care.
