Education plays an essential role in concussion care. A concussion is a brain injury, and although sometimes thought of as a mild injury, symptoms may persist and delay recovery. Although recognition has increased significantly in recent years, there remain gaps in knowledge of concussion management by health care and other professionals.

The Ontario Neurotrauma Foundation, using research and education, aims to increase the standards of care provided to those with concussions. Doing this will help to improve the systems of care, so that patients and their families have access to the right information about concussions and the management of symptoms that may persist.
